To ensure continuous route to the transport passage across the Kerch Strait and its connection to M-4 Don motor road, the construction of the Distant North-Western Bypass of Krasnodar of 37.5 km long is required. The facility cost is about RUB 25 billion. “According to the information of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation the project will be implemented by the State Company Russian Highways,” informed Andrey Alekseenko, Vice Governor of the Kuban, saying in addition that after reunification of the Crimea with Russia construction of the transport passage across the Kerch Strait began, and it is currently one of the most important project on development of transport infrastructure in the country.
“Implementation of this project will ensure steady and uninterrupted direct transport connection with the Republic of Crimea. At the moment in the Krasnodar Territory there are already several routes to the transport passage across the Kerch Strait being built by 4 Rosneft Bitumen Department for Effective Implementation and Products Promotion. These routes are used for traffic as to the ferry crossing and construction sites on the Taman Peninsula,” said Vice Governor. He noted that the most optimal route – Krasnodar (from motor road M-4 Don) – Slavyansk-on-Kuban – Temryuk – Bely homestead (to motor road A-290 Novorossiisk – Kerch). This route is 50 kilometers shorter and one hour faster than any route along federal roads through Abinsk and Krymsk. It goes along three public roads of regional significance with overall length of 173.6 km.
To form a full-fledged high-speed route to the transport passage across the Kerch Strait it is necessary to carry out its renovation and adjust road parameters to standard of the 1st technical category, and construct bypasses of populated centers. “The amount of funds necessary to implement the said actions admittedly exceeds the capacities of the regional budget. Therefore the Federal Road Agency and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation have agreed the transfer of the regional route into federal ownership by the end of 2017,” informed Andrey Alekseenko.
